Pork Chao Fan with Air Fried Siomai

For this year’s Chinese New Year, I’ll be sharing with you a very simple Chinese food recipe: Pork Chao Fan with Air Fried Siomai!

For the ingredients, we need the following:

  • Pork (diced or ground)
  • Cabbage (shredded into small pieces)
  • Carrots (diced into small pieces)
  • Green onion
  • Garlic powder (1/2 tbsp)
  • Onion powder (1/2 tbsp)
  • Oyster sauce (2 tbsp)
  • Steamed white rice (2 1/2 cups)
  • Secret seasoning (revealed later on 😉)
  • Topping: Siomai (optional)

For our chao fan topping, I’ll be air frying this marby siomai special.

Let’s start making our chao fan! First, just stir-fry the pork until it’s cooked. You can also try using ground pork, beef, or even seafood!

Once your meat is cooked and turns to golden brown, you can now start adding the other ingredients.

Add the carrots and the cabbage and continue stir-frying.

Next, we add the oyster sauce.

After mixing the sauce in, we’ll now add the steamed white rice and just continue mixing.

Now we’ll add the onion powder and the garlic powder.

After everything is incorporated, we’ll now add our secret ingredient: Knorr liquid seasoning!

Just sprinkle enough seasoning until you reach the level of saltiness you prefer.

Top it with green onions, or you can also mix it in, up to you! We’ll now proceed with air frying the siomai.

After preheating the air fryer for 5 mins at 180°, I cooked the siomai in the air fryer for 10 mins also at 180°.

I actually didn’t expect much from this siomai by marby because I just grabbed the smallest pack of siomai I found at the super market lol. Surprisingly, it tastes good and is still juicy despite being air fried.

Once you siomai is cooked, you can now place it as toppings of your pork chao fan!
