Beef Salpicao is one of the easiest Filipino dishes to prepare (and also one of the most satisfying to eat!) You’ll only need a few ingredients to make this dish and most are already available in your kitchen.
There are only 3 main ingredients for beef salpicao: beef, garlic, and soy sauce. For this recipe, which Stefan taught me, we’ll be adding a few more ingredients to heighten the dish’s flavor, let’s start!
Ingredients:
- 250g beef cut into bite sized pieces
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- Spring/green onion
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Ground black pepper
- 1 tsp sugar
- Chili flakes (optional)
The first step is to season the beef with pepper and olive oil (1 tbsp). Be generous with your pepper to season the beef well.
And then add the soy sauce (2 tbsp), oyster sauce (2 tbsp), and sugar (1 tsp).
Mix the garlic and half of your spring/green onions as well and then let the beef marinate for at least 30 mins.
After marinating your beef, we can now start with cooking! Heat your pan and just put on a little olive oil on it, around 1 tbsp.
When your oil is ready, put your marinated beef on the pan and cook one side of the beef for around 2-3 minutes.
Flip to the other side once cooked.
And then add butter (2 tbsp) and just continue flipping the beef until all sides are done.
Once your beef is cooked, you can add chili flakes for extra flavor – this is optional.
Sprinkle it with the remaining spring onions and serve.
Now if you want to make dirty rice from the beef salpicao’s excess sauce, just mince a clove of garlic and add your rice.
Now serve your beef salpicao over the dirty rice!
This dish is really one of the easiest to make, anyone can cook it. Let me know in the comments section below if you have tried this recipe or you can send me a message on instagram too @arbylyra!
