Kawasan Falls – Everything You Need To Know!

Kawasan Falls is one of the most famous waterfalls in the Philippines. You can relax in its chilly waters and enjoy the cool breeze coming from the falls, or if you are looking for an adventure, go canyoneering!

Kawasan Falls is located at Brgy. Matutinao, Badian, Cebu. Here’s how you can go to Kawasan Falls from Cebu City:

  • Go to Cebu South Bus Terminal and ride a Ceres bus going to Bato via Barili
  • Take note of via Barili – the other bus route is via Oslob (which won’t pass by Badian)
  • Get off at Badian, tell the bus operator to drop you off the Kawasan Falls bus stop
  • Bus fare from Cebu City to Badian via ordinary bus is 125Php (as of March 2018), the air-conditioned bus fare costs around 150Php
  • Travel time is around 3 hours, depending on the time of your departure (the earlier the better)

Upon arrival, you should see this sign:

If you just want to enjoy the waterfall’s cold waters, just follow the trail to the falls which is a 15-20 minute trek.

After a few minutes into the trail, you’ll have to stop over a small admin office and pay for environmental fee which costs 45Php per person (as of March 2018).

There are signs everywhere to serve as a guide and the trail is simple enough so you definitely won’t be lost.

You’ll know you’re almost there when you start seeing small canteens and stores.

The food stalls serve freshly cooked meals too! You can actually dine alongside the waterfalls!

We rented out a small table for 300Php. Life jackets (not strictly required) can also be rented at 20Php each.

At last! Kawasan Falls!

Just look at that beauty!

Kawasan Falls is very popular not just to tourists but to locals as well. Especially during summer – who doesn’t want to have a dip in its cold waters with the summer heat?

I’m actually very lucky to have taken a photo with zero people in it – I think I just have to share that it can be really crowded!

Nevertheless, it still is definitely worth it – the clear and cold waters, the cool breeze, the overall adventure, including the trek!

If you want to go all out and experience the Kawasan Falls thrill – go canyoneering. Canyoneering is different from the normal trail because you’ll have to start from the highest point of the falls and trek the way down by jumping from different heights!

Here’s our canyoneering video from August 2017:

To book a canyoneering adventure, you can contact Kuya Yoyoy at +639777753176. He can arrange a canyoneering tour for you at 1500Php each. You can ask for discounts if you are planning to go as a group!

If I were to choose, canyoneering is still the way to go! It’s a once in a lifetime experience (because you’ll think twice of doing it again lol) but either way, Kawasan Falls should definitely belong in everyone’s bucketlists!

  1. How was the Canyoneering? How long was the trek and how many jumps did you have to do? I haven’t tried Canyoneering in Cebu but I have been meaning to try it.

    1. For the canyoneering I think we started at 10am and ended at 3pm 😅 but it really depends on how brave you are lol. There are 3 really high jumps, around 20-30ft, but only one of those is required. I lost count on the minor jumps but those jumps are just pure fun! You should definitely try it – one for the books!
