Here’s a quick and simple dish you can prepare at home with readily available ingredients. Sweet and savory, this honey garlic salmon recipe is my current home cooking obsession!
Let’s get started with the ingredients:
- Salmon slab
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- Small portion of onion, chopped
- Green onions, chopped (optional)
- Salt
- Pepper
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp sake or white wine (optional)
First, season your salmon with salt and pepper.
Preheat your pan and add butter.
Next, add the chopped garlic and cook until it’s a little brown.
You can now add 2 tbsp honey and 2 tbsp sake (optional). You can also add a teaspoon of lemon/calamansi juice if you want to make it a bit tangy.
Let the sauce bubble up before adding your salmon.
Now, add the salmon and cook each side for 3-4 minutes depending on the thickness of your salmon slab.
Baste the salmon with your sauce. You’ll know your salmon is ready when you see than golden glaze and the meat from the sides are all cooked up to your liking – time to serve!
Plate your salmon by drizzling it with the sauce and sprinkling it with the chopped green onions. Serve alongside rice, potatoes, or any sides you like. I also added poached egg on my plate and topped the rice with the remaining sauce and garlic bits!
This is also the same recipe I follow when cooking honey garlic chicken – the chicken is just pre-fried before adding it to the sauce. I hope you’ll enjoy making your own honey garlic salmon.
