There’s just something about film photography that makes the photos extra special. Patiently waiting for your prints and scans without knowing how the actual photos look creates an element of surprise. And in today’s world where everything is available in an instant, waiting for a film to be processed/developed is somehow liberating.
I started looking for film cameras on Instagram. At first, I was torn if I’m going to buy a brand new point and shoot, a cheap disposable one for practicing, or a vintage film camera that I can use for good. But when I saw this post on @mvp_camera‘s page, I’ve decided to get the Konica Auto S.
The Konica Auto S is from the 60s (it was released on 1963 if I’m not mistaken) and is also the first automatic exposure model in the compact rangefinders line.
Apart from its classic look, the “auto” mode was the deciding factor as it made me less anxious that I’ll be taking blank shots 😅
Its Electronic Eye (EE) Metering is also working which is very rare in vintage cameras. And take a look at that super clear viewfinder! The film counter and self timer is also working well and there are very few scratches/signs of usage despite its age.
I’m just really happy and excited to use my film camera. I grew up with film cameras until grade school but it’s not something I really did appreciate before.
Please look forward to new posts with *nice* photos from my Konica Auto S!🤞
