Loose Watercolor Flowers

I started painting again! I haven’t noticed that my last art post on the blog was almost a year ago already. Right now, I’m trying out painting flowers to practice more on my brush work.

I found several youtube tutorials which focuses on loose floral. What’s fascinating in painting loose floral is that you’re free to make mistakes because flowers are supposed to be imperfect (which actually makes them more perfect, to be honest.)

I also didn’t know leaves are so therapeutic to paint and they could actually be as pretty as the flowers!

Here’s a warm-up piece I made to practice my strokes. I made it by following Shayda Campbells’s simple and quick tutorial on YouTube.

After a few warm-up exercises, I decided to give it a go… Here’s my first attempt on loose watercolor flowers!

I was really pleased with the result given it’s just my first try. I tried to vary colors and flower sizes, and added leaves and fillers ass needed.

This last piece is a dry run for monochromatic loose watercolor flowers. I need to work more on my shading and brush work. So far, so good.

That’s it for today’s artworks, til’ the next one!
